How to think like a Marketer – A simple strategy to turn your smartphone into a lead generation tool
Today, as part of my series to help you move from technician to marketer I want to explore a simple strategy with you to help you identify hot prospects and create quality leads for your business
Of course this is comes back to thinking like a marketer, not a technical business owner.
Now it is best to have a 1300 or 1800 phone number for this strategy however we all got to start somewhere so you can still use this on your answering machine or smartphone.
The reason I say having a 1300 or 1800 number is best for this is because having these lines allows you to run multiple phone lines and offers and tests at once so you’l be able to review the results more effectively. This includes which person came in from which ad for example, how many people called as opposed to left a message and so on.
TURN YOUR ANSWERING MACHINE & SMARTPHONE INTO A LEAD GENERATION TOOL WITH FREE RECORDED MESSAGES
This strategy is designed to attract prospects using a free report, CD, DVD, book or something else so they share their contact details with you on using your phone.
On your smartphone or answering machine record a message which could be something like:
“Hello and thanks for calling <your business name>. At the moment I cannot take your call but since <year you started business> we have been helping <your target audience> with <problem you solve here>.
If you need a quote or have an immediate need, please leave your name, phone number and email address and I will call you back within 24 hours and if you’d like a FREE report on “Put the name of your free report here” please leave your name and email address and I will email one out to you in the next 24 hours.
Of course you could also ask them for their mailing address but be carful not to make it too long winded.

Like I said
Using your answering machine or smartphone does restrict you because you only have one line so this will work better if you have 1800 or a 1300 number. This way you can test different offers and messages using multiple phone lines but for those without that luxury, this is great starting point.
Look at it this way
Start with this, then once you are making money and getting returns from it, invest in the 1300 or 1800 number.
